Groundhog Lake RV Park and Campground is located in the high country of Southwest Colorado. Nestled among majestic mountain peaks and serene high country meadows, Groundhog Lake has long been a favorite spot for local area fisherman. Wildlife of all kinds are abundant in the area surrounding the lake and great hunting and photo opportunities abound. Just one mile east you will enter the 2 million acre San Juan Forest, where boundless wilderness is combined with countless hunting and recreational areas. So whether you come to enjoy the great fishing, the trophy hunting, the tremendous photo opportunities, or choose to just relax and enjoy the magnificent vistas, you will not be disappointed in your stay at Groundhog Lake RV Park and Campground.

Groundhog Lake RV Park and Campground has both RV sites and Lakeside tent sites available. You can choose between electric only or full hook-up RV sites. Cabin rentals are also available and dogs are always welcome. The new convenience store, liquor store, and shower facilities are open for your convenience. Sites are available from May 15th through November 15th. Just north of Groundhog Lake RV Park & Campground lies the Uncompahgre National Forest, an excellent area for big game hunting. In fact, dozens of state records have been set for elk, mule deer, and wild turkey in the area surrounding Groundhog Lake!

NOTICE: Groundhog Reservoir is the Montezuma Irrigation Company's water supply. Zebra mussel contamination would be destructive to their systems and the natural environment of the reservoir. At the MVIC 5-9-17 meeting, the board voted to restrict boats to simple boats as defined by CPW, and no more than 18 ft in length, no more than 20 horsepower, outboard motor only. NO pontoon boats. Boat ramp hours will be limited. There is no funding for ANS inspections. Groundhog RV Park and Campground will be donating 40 hours a month for public boating access. See our boating tab on the Come Explore page for hours. Mandatory boat inspections for all boats, please arrive pre-inspected with a seal and receipt ready to expedite entrance. Inspections are free at McPhee boat ramp. We offer boat rentals 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm as an option.
